AY-YILDIZ 15 MW WPP
The AY-YILDIZ WPP has been developed by a local energy generation compay in Western region of Turkey. The project contributes to the development of local industries as it will allow the use of cheaper energy for industrialists and gain advantage in a competitive environment.
The project is located at Ayyıldız Hill near the town of Bandırma, Balıkesir Province, in Turkey. The purpose of the project is to generate electricity and to feed it into the Turkish national grid. First phase of the project started in March 2009 and commissioned in September 2009. Extension phase started in mid-2016 and commissioned in January 2017.
The project contributes to the national economy and provide a portion of growing electricity demand with renewable energy from wind power. The project activity generates “Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reductions” by avoiding CO2 emissions caused by electricity generation by fossil fuel power plants connected to Turkish National Power Grid. The average annual generated energy of 98.7 GWh, will be able to deliver a reduction in emissions of about 55,379 tCO2e (tons of carbon dioxide equivalent) per annum.
